FABLE

Fable is strategically located in Everton Park, a suburb situated on the northern side of Brisbane, poised to evolve into a mini urban hub as per the urban masterplan. This site boasts a three-street frontage, enveloped by a dynamic mix of commercial establishments, light industry, retail outlets, and restaurants. To the west, South Pine Road stands as a significant thoroughfare, serving as a key feeder road into Brisbane for suburbs within the northern regional catchment.
The directive for Fable was to craft a collection of townhouses integral to a masterplan envisioning a new residential hub. The emphasis lay on ensuring that the design contemplated how these dwellings would engage with the three surrounding roads, culminating in the creation of a central communal space. The vision was to provide residents with a shared environment that fosters community engagement and connectivity.
In response to the brief, our design for Fable revolved around a thoughtful arrangement of distinct dwelling types, strategically positioned on the site. The primary typology was a series of three-story dwellings forming the perimeter—an architectural nod to a walled city. These structures not only delineated the boundaries of the site but also presented a unique visual identity. Roofs with varied forms and walls stepping at common junctions, coupled with diverse cladding, created a deliberately non-uniform articulation along the edges, contributing to the development's aesthetic richness.
Internally, the design strategy generated remnant land, reminiscent of an internal courtyard, acting as a communal space for residents. This internal oasis became the focal point of amenity, resembling a lush green retreat within the development. A dining pavilion, a pizza oven, fire pits, and pool terraces were strategically incorporated, offering residents a haven to engage with the subtropical climate and come together as a cohesive community. Fable's design is not just about housing; it's about creating an environment where residents can enjoy the comforts of home while fostering a sense of community and shared experiences
